The Lord Is Near to the Brokenhearted

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18

Scripture does not pretend that brokenness is rare. It speaks of it plainly, without embarrassment or denial.

To be brokenhearted is to carry something that did not turn out as hoped. A loss. A disappointment. A wound that lingers quietly.

This verse does not say the Lord is near only after healing begins. It says He is near to the brokenhearted.

God’s nearness is not postponed until you are strong again. It meets you where you are.

Many people feel pressure to hide pain in order to appear faithful. But Scripture does not equate strength with silence. It often pairs faith with honesty.

A “crushed spirit” is not a failure of belief. It is a human response to loss in a broken world.

The promise here is not that pain disappears immediately. The promise is presence.

God draws near not because you have endured well, but because you are hurting.

God does not wait for you to recover before He comes close.

Nearness does not always feel dramatic. Sometimes it is quiet endurance. Sometimes it is the strength to make it through the day.

If your heart feels heavy today, Scripture does not rush you forward. It reminds you that you are not alone in the weight.

The Lord is not distant from your pain. He is near to it.
